Peace agreement gives new boost to summer travel

The agreement between the USA and Iran has already affected Swedes' holiday plans. Since it was announced that the USA and Iran would sign a memorandum of understanding, bookings with the travel agency Ticket have increased by 18 percent, and now that the agreement has been signed, summer travel is expected to gain further momentum.

Following a period of unrest in the Middle East, the news of a preliminary agreement between the USA and Iran has sparked hopes for a more stable development in the region. Since it was announced on Saturday that an agreement would be signed during the week, the price of oil has fallen to its lowest level since before the Iran War began, reducing costs for airlines and creating better conditions for lower airfares.

The reduced uncertainty has also already affected Swedes' holiday plans, and since the preliminary agreement was made public, travel bookings have increased by 18 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the travel agency Ticket.

– We are already seeing signs that more people are daring to make decisions about their summer trips. Many who previously held back now seem to feel more confident booking, and now that the agreement between the USA and Iran has also been signed, we expect an even greater increase going forward, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and Communications Manager at the travel agency Ticket.

If more people choose to book trips in the coming weeks, it could simultaneously affect the availability of certain departures.

– The most in-demand trips can sell out quickly if more people choose to book at the same time. There is also a risk that prices will rise as availability decreases. If you have found a trip that suits both your budget and holiday plans, there is rarely any advantage in waiting, says Tiyoneh Jah.
