Furthermore, the Swedish Transport Administration believes that there is no public service obligation applicable to the route, which would have made scheduled flights between Stockholm and Mora-Siljan Airport possible.<\/p>\n<p>The message upsets responsible politicians in Mora:<\/p>\n<p>\"I am very disappointed. This is about giving rural areas the opportunity to develop as well, and for the entire county to have good conditions for business,\" says the municipal executive committee chairman Anna Hed (C).<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Trafikverket has thought and acted based on its own, extremely narrow legal silos, without considering the socio-economic damage its actions are causing to Mora and the whole of northern Dalarna, says opposition councillor Lennart Sohlberg (S).<\/p>\n<p>It was in 2015 that AB Dalaflyget procured air traffic for a four-year period between Mora and Arlanda from the airline Flexflight ApS, which already operated the Stockholm-Sveg route. The service was made possible by a stopover at Mora-Siljan Airport. Mora Municipality has contributed five million [SEK] annually to ensure the air traffic. AB Dalaflyget is jointly owned by the Dalarna County Council and the municipalities of Mora, Borl\u00e4nge, and Falun.<\/p>\n<p>Mora Municipality's commitment was motivated by the great importance of aviation for businesses in Mora and all of northern Dalarna, both for quickly travelling to and from Stockholm and for utilising the international routes from Arlanda.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic is now being stopped. The reason is that Trafikverket has an agreement with the airline for the route to Sveg, and AB Dalaflyget has an agreement for the Mora connection from Stockholm. According to Trafikverket, there can only be one agreement on the same route. Therefore, AB Dalaflyget's agreement with the airline Flexiflight has been terminated prematurely.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 It is extremely sad. Despite there being significant regional support from all over Dalarna, both political and from the business community, the important air traffic to Mora is being halted, says municipal commissioner Anna Hed (C).<\/p>\n<p>The traffic could have been secured with so-called public service obligation. This means that the Swedish Transport Agency procures and pays for the traffic on routes that meet the requirements for public benefit, which has been done in other similar cases. According to the Swedish Transport Agency, Mora-Siljan Airport does not fully meet those requirements and therefore it is proposed that it stands without a public service obligation.<\/p>\n<p>Every day that stands still risks an increasing number of jobs being lost at companies in northern Dalarna. Company management, training functions, and sales departments are the first things that will be moved from our municipalities. Then production units as the company managements find it cumbersome to visit the units, says opposition councillor Lennart Sohlberg (S).<\/p>\n<p>Businesses and organisations like Vasaloppet have acted to keep air traffic: \u201dThe airport in Mora is a prerequisite for our operations. It is an important hub in Dalarna's infrastructure and enables quick journeys to Stockholm and further out into the world,\u201d recently wrote eight influential representatives for Mora businesses in an opinion piece.<\/p>\n<p> \u2013 Mora Hospital is also heavily reliant on air traffic and the airport for its recruitment of skilled staff and for the possibilities of patient and organ transports. Without air traffic between Mora and Arlanda, it will be difficult to maintain Mora Hospital's status as an emergency hospital, says Councillor Malin H\u00f6glund (M).<\/p>\n<p>In mid-February, the opportunity to book tickets for the Stockholm-Mora route will cease, and traffic will be stopped on February 28th.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regulj\u00e4rflyget mellan Mora och Stockholm kommer att upph\u00f6ra den 28 februari.
