Six French people are now being searched by mountain rescuers after being reported missing on Sunday.
\nAt lunchtime, the group, three men and three women, left Nikkaluokta to ski to Kebnekaise mountain station.<\/p>\n
When they did not arrive in the evening, the staff called the police.
\nDuring the evening and night, about ten snowmobile-borne mountain rescuers searched the area.
\n\u2013 We have mountain rescuers out to check the route to see if they are stuck. It is quite harsh weather with wind and snow, says Mats Andersson, RLC commander at the North Police Region.<\/p>\n
\u201dHope to be able to help from the sky\u201d
\nOn Sunday, the weather was too severe to search by helicopter.
\n\u2013 We hope it will calm down so that we can get help from the sky, says Mats Andersson.
\n\u201dNot good conditions\u201d
\nHe says that of those who came to Kebnekaise mountain station on Sunday, some have had minor frostbite due to the wind.
\n\u2013 So the conditions are not good, says Mats Andersson.

NSD reports that the warning issued is the second highest on a five-point scale.
