\nThe government is giving SJ new instructions with the aim of the state-owned company starting to run more trains.<\/strong><\/p>\n

SJ's new articles of association state, among other things, that the company, within the framework of commerciality, shall "contribute to fulfilling the transport policy goals and thereby a long-term sustainable transport supply throughout the country," writes Dagens Nyheter. <\/p>\n

\u201d"The key words are 'long-term' and 'nationwide'," says Environment Minister Isabella L\u00f6vin (MP) to DN.<\/p>\n

The government has previously imposed a profit requirement on SJ, which means that the company must generate a return of at least seven percent on its operating capital, something it has managed to meet without any problems in recent years.<\/p>\n

SJ's outgoing CEO Jan Sundling is positive about the change. He points out, among other things, that the company has managed to turn certain routes from questionable to profitable results in recent years by having employees investigate how the routes could generate profit.<\/p>\n
