An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 has occurred near the Moluccas archipelago in eastern Indonesia, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reports.<\/p>\n

The earthquake occurred just over eight kilometers northwest of the island of Ternate and at a depth of 15 kilometers below the seabed, which may have amplified its effect according to the USGS.<\/p>\n

Indonesia lies along the so-called Ring of Fire, a vast area with high seismic activity and volcanoes.<\/p>\n
