\nTotal tourism expenditure for Sweden increased by 7.4 % compared to 2016, which is the strongest increase since 2006. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In J\u00e4mtland H\u00e4rjedalen, tourism generated 200 million in increased turnover and 25 million in increased tax revenue compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Tourism is a basic industry in J\u00e4mtland H\u00e4rjedalen, which is clearly reflected in the calculation of last year's results. Tourism now comprises a total of approximately 5.14 billion SEK in turnover and 675 million in tax revenue. Last year we had approximately 11 million guest nights, of which almost 3.1 million were in commercial accommodation, an increase of 3.1%, says Anne Adsten, Tourism Developer J\u00e4mtland H\u00e4rjedalen Turism.<\/p>\n

Lift ticket sales (517 million) account for one tenth of total turnover and the total number of ski days increased by 4.5 million in the winter of 2016\/2017. The winter decreased marginally overall, while the bare-ground season increased by 6 million.<\/p>\n

Among the municipalities in J\u00e4mtland H\u00e4rjedalen, all increase in the number of commercial guest nights with the exception of Berg and Br\u00e4cke. \u00d6stersund accounts for just over half of the total increase measured in actual volumes. Among the destinations, increases are noticeable for \u00c5re, Vemdalen, Bydalsfj\u00e4llen and Lofsdalen.<\/p>\n

Tourism contributed 10,600 more jobs in Sweden in 2017 and currently employs a total of 175,800 people. Employment growth in the hospitality industry in Sweden increased by 6.4 percent compared to 2016 and is significantly higher than for the Swedish economy as a whole, where total employment grew by 2.3 percent during the same period.<\/p>\n

\u2013 In J\u00e4mtland H\u00e4rjedalen, employment in the tourism industry increased by 4.3 %. Tourism thus contributes 7,300 direct and indirect annual jobs, which corresponds to 4.2 % of Sweden's share. Considering that only 1.3 % of Sweden's population lives in the region, the figure is remarkable, says Anne Adsten.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
