Oil platforms have been evacuated in the Gulf of Mexico, and oil and gas production has been curtailed.<\/p>\n<p>The eye of the storm will move into the southeastern United States on Tuesday evening local time. It will then continue northeast \u2013 including areas in North and South Carolina that were hit by Hurricane Florence in September.<\/p>\n<p>Leslie will strengthen into a hurricane this week, threatening the Azores and Madeira.
