\nSecurity staff at Madrid Barajas Airport are threatening to strike in the middle of Christmas traffic if their demands are not met.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

They are demanding that a promised bonus be paid and warmer clothing for those patrolling outdoors.<\/p>\n

The last two weeks of December mean extra travelers and flights in the air in Europe. Now Christmas traffic in Spain is threatened by a strike that could have major consequences for passengers. It is the security staff at one of Spain's largest airports, Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Sur\u00e1ez, who are protesting against poor working conditions, Spanish media report.<\/p>\n

Security personnel are unhappy with their uniforms, which do not keep them warm enough when patrolling outdoors. According to the Alternativa Sindical union, the employer is violating a work environment law that requires employees working in certain types of environments to wear appropriate clothing. Three hundred of the employees have also not received a promised bonus.
\nThere may be long queues and delays if security staff go on strike at Madrid airport. <\/p>\n

More employees may be affected<\/strong>
\nAlternativa Sindical has announced a strike starting on December 21st if the employer does not agree to their demands. The strike affects personnel both inside and outside the airport.
\nAccording to aviation experts, the strike \u2013 if it breaks out \u2013 is unlikely to cause as much disruption as a similar strike at Barcelona's El Prat airport a year and a half ago. This is because security personnel are not affected. However, Alternativa Sindical does not rule out that security personnel could also join the strike in a few days, reports the British Daily Mail Online.<\/p>\n

No strikes in Germany<\/strong>
\nEurope's airports were hit by several major strikes during the year. Among other things, when Ryanair pilots in Belgium, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany went on strike in September. More than 500 flights were cancelled. Now the German pilots and cabin crew have agreed with their employer on a new agreement with better conditions for the employees. The new agreement comes into force in March and the pilots' union promises that no new notices of strikes will be given before then, reports the Independent.<\/p>\n
