{"id":233463,"date":"2019-04-26T06:59:51","date_gmt":"2019-04-26T04:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.travelreport.se\/?p=233463"},"modified":"2024-02-02T12:24:01","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T12:24:01","slug":"the-strike-is-your-rights-if-you-are-affected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.travelreport.se\/en\/strejken-ar-har-dina-rattigheter-om-du-drabbas\/","title":{"rendered":"The strike is here: Your rights if you are affected"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelreport.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/image7-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"227183\" data-link=\"http:\/\/www.travelreport.se\/2016\/03\/15\/sas-oppnar-ny-flyglinje\/image-78\/\" class=\"wp-image-227183\"\/><figcaption>Photo:travelreport.se<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cancelled trip, hotels that cannot be rebooked and extra expenses - what demands can you as a consumer make of the airline if you are affected by an air strike?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a flight is canceled due to a strike, the consumer always has the right to rebook the trip or to cancel the trip and get a refund, according to Christine Holst, a lawyer at the Swedish Consumer Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The requirement can only be made when a flight has actually been canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Refunds apply to the unused portion of a trip and the money must be paid back within seven days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rebooking is available with the options of reaching your destination as soon as possible or rebooking to another date that suits you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some cases, you may be entitled to compensation for expenses or financial loss caused by the cancelled flight. This may include missed connecting flights, missed hotel nights or lost income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Financial claims should be made directly to the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dIt is important to save all receipts and make a claim against the airline,\u201d says Christine Holst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, you are obliged to limit your costs and, for example, book hotel nights as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Consumer Agency<strong> <\/strong>website, Hall\u00e5 konsument, there is a service called Flygk\u00e4llatorn where you as a consumer can get help with what rights you have in the event of a cancelled flight. The service also includes links to reach the airlines to make demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some cases, you are entitled to financial compensation according to fixed amounts \u2013 250, 400 or 600 euros. The distance of the cancelled flight determines the amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right to compensation is conditioned, among other things, by how far in advance you were notified of the cancelled flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the strike is classified as extraordinary, the right to financial compensation may disappear. What is classified as an extraordinary event or not is complicated and must be assessed on a case-by-case basis, according to Christine Holst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This includes whether the airline has done everything it reasonably can to avoid a strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d&quot;We always encourage the consumer to make demands on the airline. Then the airline has to take a position,&quot; says Christine Holst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a consumer is not satisfied with the response from the airline, the matter can be taken to the Swedish National Complaints Board (ARN) for review.
