Three years later, in 1962, traffic was moved to the newly built Stockholm Arlanda Airport \u2013 and in the same year, a Swedish couple was married for the first time on board a Lufthansa flight en route to Hamburg. In 1970, Lufthansa expanded its Swedish traffic with Gothenburg as a new destination. Today, an anniversary was celebrated at Arlanda to mark the 60th anniversary of the German airline&#039;s service to Sweden.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 We would like to thank Lufthansa for the 60 years of Swedish-German relations that have allowed travelers to fly between the two countries smoothly for so long. In 2018, over 1.5 million passengers flew with Lufthansa from Gothenburg and Stockholm, and at Arlanda Lufthansa is the third largest airline today, says&nbsp;<strong>Elizabeth Axtelius<\/strong>, Aviation Marketing Director at Swedavia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 We are proud to have a long history of connecting Sweden and Germany. Our first flight to Stockholm Bromma 60 years ago was made with a Vickers-Viscount aircraft. Since 1959, Lufthansa has been a reliable airline connecting Sweden with the world via our hubs. Today, Lufthansa offers 124 flights per week between the two countries, which corresponds to 20,588 airline seats.
