Tallink's cruise ferry Silja Symphony was scheduled to leave V\u00e4rtahamnen in Stockholm at 16:45 on Sunday, heading for Helsinki. This did not happen, but passengers have been offered the chance to stay overnight on the ferry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the ship arrived at V\u00e4rtahamnen in the morning, a technical fault was discovered. Experts worked on the problem throughout the day \u2013 without success. Consequently, today's departure was cancelled, which Expressen<\/a> Be the first to report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dThe technical fault is in one of the ship's stabilisers,\u201d Tallink communications officer Oscar Brehmer told TT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just over 2,000 passengers are on the cruise ferry in V\u00e4rtahamnen, with the option to stay overnight. The tax-free shops are not allowed to open their doors, but some restaurants and shops are open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dThe crew on board are doing their very best to ensure everyone's comfort, so that everyone is informed and doing well,\u201d says Oscar Brehmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today's cancelled departure means that Silja Symphony's departure from Helsinki tomorrow morning is also cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is currently unclear when the ship will be back in service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dWork will continue on resolving the technical fault, and we hope to do that as quickly as possible. After that, the ship will be inspected and then normal traffic can resume,\u201d says Oscar Brehmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will passengers receive compensation?
\u201dIt is far too early to talk about compensation and such now, but we will go through it and have a dialogue with passengers to ensure everyone is doing well,\u201d says Oscar Brehmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
