Norwegian is freezing its bonus program due to the pressured situation the airline is in. The company is also flagging restrictions on how the earned points can be used in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an email sent to customers on Monday evening, Norwegian wrote that the airline is pausing its bonus program, which goes by the name Norwegian Reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that customers will not be able to earn or use points on travel while the company is in restructuring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the future, there may also be limits on how many points can be used at one time. Norwegian states that the company reserves the right to limit points as a means of payment until the effects of the ongoing pandemic are under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the current travel restrictions, Norwegian is choosing to extend the validity of points that expire at the turn of the next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norwegian's press officer Tonje N\u00e6ss writes in a statement that the changes "can be frustrating" and that the company "apologizes for the inconvenience this causes.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since December, both Norwegian and its Irish subsidiary have been under bankruptcy protection. Since customers' earned bonus points are considered a debt, the bonus program is an issue that must be addressed within the framework of the reconstructions, notes Norwegian E24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
