The shipping company&#039;s three historic canal boats will therefore not be in service this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The history of Rederi AB G\u00f6ta Kanal began in 1869 when the shipping company \u00c5ngfartygsaktiebolaget Motala Str\u00f6m was founded. Since then, the shipping company&#039;s canal boats have cruised the G\u00f6ta Kanal annually, with the exception of a few years of interruption during the First World War, one year during the Second World War and last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&quot;We hoped until the last moment that we would be able to run our G\u00f6ta Canal cruises this year,&quot; says Peter Henricson, head of Stromma Sweden, but the pandemic has once again put a stop to us. Bookings from Swedes are too few and the foreign tourists who have booked are not enough for us to be able to cruise this summer.&quot;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Gladly, many of those who booked this year have moved their booking to next year, and new bookings for 2022 have already come in.
