But there are still few sun loungers on Rhodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt&#039;s as if we have been struck by a curse,\u201d says Deputy Mayor Konstantinos Taraslias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far, the season has not taken off. Bookings for June are poor, with only 50 of Rhodes&#039; 600 hotels open and most charter planes half empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is great uncertainty on the island, where most things revolve around tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 It&#039;s a lot of stress, says Taraslias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 First we had the economic crisis.
