Freighters are expected to be in high demand as many older planes are about to be scrapped, writes Bloomberg News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Airbus, the Asia-Pacific region will need many new aircraft over the next two decades, as travel recovers from the coronavirus pandemic and less fuel-efficient planes need to be replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About three-quarters of the jets in demand are expected to be in the smaller size category, aircraft types such as the Airbus A220 and A320. New freighters will also be needed to keep pace with an expected doubling of regional air freight by 2040, according to Airbus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">China is expected to be one of the main drivers of growth after a prolonged period of lower demand for aviation due to the country&#039;s &quot;zero covid&quot; strategy. Other key countries highlighted by Airbus are emerging economies such as India and Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regional travel in the region is expected to have returned to 2019, pre-pandemic levels, sometime between 2023 and 2025.
