The announcement is motivated by the fact that it is not appropriate to change the chairman under the current circumstances.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a press release, Finnair writes that the company&#039;s nomination committee, current Chairman of the Board Jouko Karvinen and the intended Chairman Kari Stadigh have jointly reached the decision.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d&quot;Due to the changes in the company&#039;s operating environment, it is important to ensure continuity in the work of the Board of Directors and a change of Chairman of the Board is not considered appropriate under these circumstances,&quot; Finnair writes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a consequence of the change in the nomination committee&#039;s proposal, Finnair&#039;s Annual General Meeting will be moved from March 24 to April 7.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Thursday, Finnair announced that the closure of Russian airspace following the country&#039;s invasion of Ukraine means that the company sees a need to lay off staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finnair expects to have to lay off 90 to 200 pilots and 150 to 450 cabin crew from April onwards.
