The new trains will be the fastest trains ever on Swedish railways, with a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour, SJ writes in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agreement includes 25 new high-speed trains and an option for up to 15 additional trains. The deal is worth approximately seven billion kronor. The trains will be used for long-distance train traffic between major cities in Sweden but also for cross-border traffic to Denmark and Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SJ made a decision to award the contract to Alstom on 20 December 2021 after a completed procurement. The agreement between the parties was signed on 5 April 2022.
