Corporate travelers are returning to SJ at a rapid pace<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

From February to April, business travel with SJ increased by just over 90 percent. On February 9, the restrictions were lifted and business travel began to increase at once. On April 30, the number of business trips with SJ corresponded to 63 percent of the number of business trips at the same time in 2019. 2019 is the year in which the most travelers have chosen to travel with SJ so far.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 9, restrictions were lifted after the latest Covid wave. Business travel has increased month by month since then. On April 30, the number of business trips corresponded to 63 percent of the number of business trips at the same time in 2019, which is the year when the most travelers so far chose to travel with SJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Statistics from the first two weeks of May show that the increase continues, but not at quite the same pace. The booking situation from April 30 until midsummer was also higher than the corresponding booking situation in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The increase in business travel is relatively evenly distributed across industries and sectors, with the exception that the public sector has increased its travel more than average. One reason may be that public organizations were among the sectors that reduced their business travel the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In light of its three circumstances (the strong upturn, the positive booking situation, the steady return), SJ is strengthened in its assessment that business travel in the autumn will correspond to at least the same level as in 2019. SJ believes that total business travel will decrease, but that the train benefits because the business travel that is made is shifted to modes of transport with lower greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why business travelers choose the train<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SJ has asked its business travelers why they choose the train over other means of transport. 61 percent state that the main reason is that the travel time can be used for work. The reason for choosing the train that is increasing the most is that the train has a lower environmental impact than alternative modes of transport. In 2019, 42 percent stated environmental reasons. In 2022, the proportion had risen to 58 percent. An increase of 16 percentage points<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business trips with SJ are getting longer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business travel measured in terms of the number of journeys corresponded to 63 percent of business travel at the same time in 2019 on April 30, but measured in terms of person-kilometres, business travel corresponds to 68 percent. Business trips made in 2022 are somewhat longer than before. This may be because several companies and organisations have revised their travel policies and now recommend trains for all trips within Sweden, but also to Oslo and Copenhagen and in some cases also to Central Europe.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
