SAS has asked mediators to resume negotiations with the pilot unions to reach an agreement that could end the ongoing strike, according to a press release from SAS on Monday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201d"The strike affects several thousand passengers daily and many SAS employees are working hard to help the affected passengers. It is necessary that the parties jointly reach an end to the situation," SAS writes in a press release that concludes with: "SAS wishes to end the strike.".\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has previously been reported how SAS and the pilots have been far apart, something SAS is now choosing to address:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dSAS understands that continued mediation requires concessions from both parties and SAS is willing to take its responsibility in that process.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company further writes that the SAS-forward transformation plan requires efforts from all stakeholders, including the pilots. \u201dCompetitive collective agreements are a prerequisite for securing a future for SAS and for all of our 8,000 employees.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier on Monday, Norwegian Ombudsman Mats Wilhelm Ruland stated that the situation between SAS and the pilot union is still unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, SAS pilots also announced that they will no longer make exceptions to fly stranded charter tourists home. The pilots' union SPG wrote this in a press release in which they called SAS an "unreliable contracting party.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
