In connection with the summer&#039;s major luggage chaos at several airports, it has also become an attractive choice for passengers who are afraid of losing their bags.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But now it&#039;s all over for German Lufthansa, at least if you can believe a tweet from the company&#039;s verified account.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d&quot;According to ICAO guidelines, trackers are subject to the Dangerous Goods Regulations. Due to their tracking function, they must be deactivated during the flight if packed in checked baggage and therefore cannot be used,&quot; the company wrote on Twitter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apple denies that their product violates the referenced regulations, writes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/10\/11\/travel\/lufthansa-apple-airtags-luggage.html\">The New York Times<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a written statement, Lufthansa confirms that the product may not be used on the company&#039;s flights, but denies that it is the company&#039;s own initiative.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dAccording to The Lufthansa Group\u2019s own risk assessment, tracking devices with low batteries in checked baggage do not pose a security risk. We have never imposed a ban on this type of product. It is the responsibility of the authorities to renew the regulations that currently restrict how tracking devices are used in checked baggage.
