The company was criticized as recently as last week by the Consumer Ombudsman due to a lack of communication with customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detur has announced that it is halting operations for the rest of 2022 and 2023, after six months of storms surrounding canceled trips and non-payment of refunds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KO demanded on Wednesday that the company inform all its travelers within 14 days that they have the right to a refund for canceled trips. Failure to do so could result in a fine of one million kronor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KO wrote in a press release that the Package Travel Act is clear and that a tour operator must notify the traveler and refund the money to the customer within 14 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d&quot;But in order for consumers to be able to act, they must first be told that they can demand a refund. Here we believe that Detur is seriously failing in its information obligation,&quot; said Elin Berner, litigation counsel at KO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that the company no longer sees it profitable to continue operating, it is unclear what will happen to those who have still not received refunds.
