The potential is also increasing thanks to the country joining Schengen and introducing the euro currency from January.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d&quot;The market has confidence in Croatia as a tourist country, Croatia joining Schengen and adopting the euro means that the country will become even more accessible,&quot; says Vedran Susic, head of the Croatian Tourist Board at a press conference in Stockholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As 2022 draws to a close, Croatia can look back on a year of rising visitor numbers and hotel overnight stays, but also more flight connections than in 2021. Compared to other Mediterranean countries, the number of tourists who have returned after the pandemic is the highest. So far (until 23 November), 197,714 people from Sweden have travelled to Croatia, 140,214 individual travellers and 57,500 booked through tour operators. During the peak year 2019, a total of 301,990 visitors arrived from Sweden, but bookings through tour operators were also twice as many (128,884). So far (until 17 October), Croatia has had a total of 17,804,575 arrivals and 101,783,780 guest nights \u2013 91.25 percent compared to the record year of arrivals in 2019. The index for guest overnight stays shows 96.45 percent, only 3.55 percent lower than in 2019. The high visitor numbers for 2022 are mainly due to the many tourists from neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Croatia&#039;s corona strategy has been successful. Thanks to the fact that the tourism sector never completely shut down during the pandemic, it has avoided laying off staff and can therefore continue to offer a high level of service. Statistics also show that it is hotels with a high standard that have been the winners of corona tourism. The four- and five-star hotels have lost the least number of bookings, with a booking level of 65-70 percent in 2021 compared to 2019. Private rentals in the more exclusive segment have also had high occupancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The interest in 2023 is evident from the increased interest among tour operators and the number of flights to Croatia will also increase. Full timetables are not yet ready so more flight destinations may be added. SAS will have direct flights from Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen and Oslo to Split, Pula and Dubrovnik. Travelers will be able to travel to Split between May 13 and October 7 from Stockholm and between April 29 and October 1 from Copenhagen. During the high season, SAS operates Split with up to 17 departures per week, and has two departures per week to Pula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other airlines that are focusing on Croatia this summer are Norwegian, which will operate Dubrovnik and Split from Stockholm and Copenhagen, but also Zagreb and Pula from Copenhagen. Ryanair is focusing on Rijeka and Zadar from Stockholm, Zagreb from Malm\u00f6 and Gothenburg.
