Several fiber optic cables from Deutsche Telekom were reportedly damaged on Tuesday, reports\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/wirtschaft\/unternehmen\/lufthansa-kaempft-mit-massiven-it-problemen-ausfaelle-und-verspaetungen-18679847.html\">faz.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The check-in and boarding systems are affected and the problems affect all flights belonging to the Lufthansa Group. This concerns both Lufthansa&#039;s own planes and all planes belonging to the subsidiaries Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss International. Lufthansa also operates the low-cost airline Eurowings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In total, Lufthansa has around 700 planes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Air traffic to Frankfurt is now being diverted to other airports such as Cologne and D\u00fcsseldorf. With so many unable to take off as planned, the runways have become full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Lufthansa spokesperson told Bloomberg that the company is investigating the cause of the error.
