It has become cheaper to travel by train \u2013 at least if you look over a longer period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Swedish Transport Agency states that<\/a> in a new report, which compared ticket prices from 1990 to 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the trend is unclear in the short term. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you look at the last two years, the most expensive tickets have become cheaper \u2013 while the cheaper tickets have become slightly more expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Something that has been affected by the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 The price trend indicates that private travel has recovered and there is a high demand for cheap tickets. However, the demand for more expensive tickets is not the same, which indicates that business travel has not recovered to the same extent, says investigator Jonathan Sundin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A break in the trend is also visible in the price of air and train travel. In a few cases, it is cheaper to fly between Stockholm and Gothenburg\/Malm\u00f6. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 It's probably about single tickets to attract the most price-sensitive travelers, says Jonathan Sundin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
