The forest fires raging in northeastern Greece are, according to the European Commission, "the largest wildfire ever in the EU," reports TT-AFP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Almost half of the entire Union's aerial fire brigade is fighting the flames, according to spokesman Balazs Ujvari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eleven aircraft, including from Sweden, and a helicopter have been sent to Greece to try to stop the spread of the fires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The area where the fires are raging is close to the border with Turkey and is now in its eleventh day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
