The development work, with a new security checkpoint and Marketplace, is together the largest investment ever at Arlanda and overall contributes to a significantly improved passenger experience for the airport&#039;s passengers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Sweden&#039;s need for exchange with the outside world will always be great and that is why a strong Arlanda is needed. A strengthened commercial offering is not only important for the passenger experience \u2013 it also contributes greatly to our ability to maintain competitive airport charges. At Swedavia, we are proud that we now have the great pleasure of officially inaugurating two milestones in the development of Sweden&#039;s largest airport, our new security checkpoint and the first stage of the new Marketplace. Together, they contribute to a significantly improved experience for Arlanda&#039;s passengers, says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia&#039;s President and CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the inauguration that took place at Arlanda&#039;s new Marketplace in Terminal 5 on Tuesday, in addition to Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia&#039;s President and CEO, Sweden&#039;s Minister of Infrastructure, Andreas Carlson, also participated, along with leading representatives from the aviation industry and regional business, including Andreas Hatzigeorgiou, CEO of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, and Susanne Andersson, CEO of Visit Sweden, who each explained what Swedavia&#039;s major investment in Arlanda means for Stockholm, the region and for all of Sweden, with an improved traveler experience and, in the long run, strengthened accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Arlanda Airport is by far Sweden&#039;s largest airport with an extensive national and international flight offer. The airport connects the country and has great national importance. It plays a very important role in the Swedish transport system and is a growth engine for the Swedish economy. The investments in the new marketplace and security control are future-oriented and contribute to developing Arlanda as an airport, says Andreas Carlson, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing.<br \/><br \/>The initiative with the faster security check, which since its opening last summer has resulted in significantly shorter waiting times at the security check for Arlanda passengers, is, together with the new 11,000 square meter Market Square and a new commercial offering for Swedavia&#039;s airports, the largest commercial investment to date for Arlanda passengers. The aim of the investments is to develop Arlanda for today&#039;s and tomorrow&#039;s passengers and thereby enable a more efficient and more inspiring start to the journey from Sweden&#039;s largest airport.<br \/><br \/>Since the opening of the new security checkpoint in Terminal 5 at the beginning of the summer, which was implemented with very good results, more than 2 million travelers have passed through security checkpoint in an average time of approximately 5 minutes, contributing to significantly shortened waiting times in security checkpoints at Arlanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Our largest investment to date at Arlanda, which we have invested in to be able to offer a more efficient and inspiring airport, strengthens Sweden&#039;s competitiveness in the long term. It is of course very positive that we have reached these milestones, opening the Marketplace and our new security checkpoint, which are important steps in Arlanda&#039;s long-term development. The investments at Arlanda are fully in line with Swedavia&#039;s accessibility mission, which both strengthens the country&#039;s position, the Swedish economy and contributes to the creation of more jobs, says Jonas Abrahamsson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the new Market Square, Arlanda&#039;s passengers will have a completely new commercial offering, both restaurants and shops. A total of 40 new concepts will be opened from this autumn until 2025, in several stages.
