The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) held a colourful ceremony to mark the historic occasion. This is the first time that the Maldives has welcomed over 1.8 million travellers to the country and marks the highest number of arrivals to date.

”We are extremely proud of this achievement and remain committed to achieving our tourism industry targets next year. The strategy and campaigns focus on the unique beauty and experiences that the Maldives has to offer. A highlight of the year was the success of the Visit Maldives Storytellers' Conference 2023. The strategic marketing activities specifically aimed to increase visitor numbers during the low season with sustainable tourism experiences. This allowed the Maldives to further solidify its position as one of the world's top destinations. The success of these campaigns was recognized on the global stage during the World Travel Awards event, where MMPRC and the Maldives won the three highest awards of the evening. The Maldives was awarded the prestigious title of World's Leading Destination for the fourth consecutive year, along with becoming the recipient of the newly introduced Global Tourism Resilience Award for having strategically rebuilt capacity to recover quickly from potential disruptions. MMPRC was recognized for its work in promoting the Maldives as a destination with the World's Leading Tourism Agency award for the second consecutive year.

About MMPRC Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation (MMPRC) is a state-owned company with the mission of promoting the Maldives as a tourist destination worldwide under the brand name ”Maldives” and the slogan “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life”.
