Among other things, they note that the government&#039;s goal of an ambitious and effective climate policy is not reflected in action. Instead of reducing emissions by 2030, current policy will contribute to an increased emissions gap by 2030. And time is running out. With one and a half terms left in the mandate, more effective and more concrete measures need to be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 21, the Climate Policy Council released its annual report evaluating the government&#039;s climate policy. Among other things, they note that the government&#039;s goal of an ambitious and effective climate policy is not reflected in action. Instead of reducing emissions by 2030, current policy will contribute to an increased emissions gap by 2030. And time is running out. With one and a half terms left in the mandate, more effective and more concrete measures need to be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are some positive aspects to the plan, including the fact that all parties in the Riksdag support the goal of net zero emissions by 2045 and that the government has the ambition to involve all ministries in climate work. However, the Climate Policy Council believes that the path to this is too narrow and that measures are lacking in several areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Large parts of the government&#039;s climate action plan are based on emission reductions that it is hoped that future policy instruments in the transport sector will generate. However, the effect of these will not be felt until close to 2030. Among the concrete measures that the climate action plan proposes is that the government implement a more effective package of measures for the transport sector in order to meet the 2030 goals.
