The desire to travel is high among Swedes, with 55 percent saying they will travel abroad on holiday this year, compared to 48 percent who took a trip abroad last year. However, this year, 38 percent plan to take their holiday during the summer, compared to 43 percent last year and 56 percent before the pandemic, according to the latest SIFO survey by travel agency Ticket. This indicates increased travel outside the peak season, and shows an ongoing trend to spread travel more widely throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 More than half of Swedes say they are planning a holiday trip in 2024, but fewer than usual will take it during the summer. This may be a healthy reaction to the travel industry's undercapacity in relation to very high demand \u2013 which can lead to high prices during the peak season, says Sofia Eddelid, PR and communications manager at Ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Ticket's SIFO survey, just over half of Swedes have adapted their travel to the economic situation in one way or another. The vast majority are looking extra carefully for cheap flight tickets to be able to go on a trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Price increases, inflation and a generally strained economic situation are leading travelers to look for cheaper tickets to a greater extent. There is a lot of money to be saved there for those who have the opportunity to travel during the low season, says Sofia Eddelid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those who plan their trip to, for example, April-May or September-October can still enjoy a pleasant Mediterranean climate, but at the same time avoid both crowds and the highest summer temperatures, and also take advantage of lower prices on flights and accommodation at the destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Those who have the opportunity to travel during the spring or late summer can find real bargains \u2013 up to half the price compared to high season. For those who do not have the opportunity to travel outside of high season, such as families with children who have to stick to the school holidays, it is important to book tickets in time. Waiting for the summer weather forecast or last-minute prices has not paid off for many years due to the high demand in relation to supply, but prices usually become higher the closer you get to departure, says Sofia Eddelid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
