What do they want to see and experience, how do they want to travel and live? You will get answers to that and a lot more when we release a new report from UngInsikt \u2013 Is it better to be away or at home?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stereotype of students hitchhiking around Europe and making a living as street musicians belongs to a different generation. Nowadays, students&#039; summer holidays are more well thought out and planned. They are a balance of budget and opportunities when planning for a sun holiday or an adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What it looks like varies quite a bit among students. Sun holidays are at the top, which is in line with the holiday habits of the population at large. What sets the student group apart is a clearer focus on adventure, with round-the-world travel and train travel high on the list of dream holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Almost half of students say they are less likely to travel abroad this summer. A large proportion of them, unsurprisingly, belong to the group that feels that their financial situation has worsened recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, almost as many indicate that they are unaffected by the economic situation or that they even plan to travel more than before, despite limited budgets and expensive times. This indicates that holiday travel is a priority expense where students are prepared to save money on other things in order to have a period of relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A clear majority google when doing their research and nothing else was expected. Almost half say they get inspiration and tips from friends and family. Tour operators, blogs and travel apps also make an impression on the top list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among social media, TikTok is the most common, closely followed by Instagram. An interesting note is the difference in the use of TikTok. Only 9 percent of men use the channel while almost a third, 29 percent of women, indicate that they use TikTok to get information about possible travel destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hotels are by far the most common form of accommodation, which is not surprising. More unexpected is the equally clear second place on the top list, which is staying with friends\/family when they are on holiday. A large network of friends and acquaintances during their studies, combined with a limited travel budget, is likely a strong contributing factor to this.
