Swedavia's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport has been named a highly commended airport in the ECO Innovation Award category by the industry organization Airports Council International Europe (ACI), which designates the leading European airports in environmental and climate work. The award is the second highest ever given and further recognition of the diligent work on aviation's climate transition that Swedavia is conducting for fossil-free flying at its ten airports. Gothenburg Landvetter, Sweden's second largest airport, is being honored in competition with over 500 airports and 50 countries in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swedavia is a world leader in operating airports with the lowest possible climate impact. In December 2023, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport was also one of the first airports in the world and, together with Malm\u00f6 Airport, the only one in the Nordic region to achieve the highest certification (level 5) within the international accreditation framework Airport Carbon Accreditation, ACA. The framework continuously evaluates airports' overall climate work based on, among other things, the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 It is of course very pleasing that Swedavia and Gothenburg Landvetter receive the highly commended ECO Innovation Award from ACI. All the work that we have put in together to contribute to fossil-free flying and fossil-free airports continues to bear fruit. We have extensive and innovative environmental and climate work where we have both changed our own operations by, for example, using HVO100 for our cars, green electricity for the entire airport and fossil-free gas, while through the partnership plan we are now also contributing to making the transition easier for our partners at Landvetter.
