A man has been caught trying to smuggle over 100 live snakes \u2013 in his pants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the traveler was stopped by customs at the border into the Shenzhen region from Hong Kong, according to Chinese customs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During an inspection, customs officers discovered that the traveler had filled his pockets with six tied and taped cloth bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201d"When the bags were opened, they were found to contain live snakes of all shapes, sizes and colors," according to a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 104 snakes were found, several of which do not occur naturally in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
China is one of the world's largest hubs for animal trafficking, but authorities have cracked down on the illegal trade in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is still unclear what punishment awaits the man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
