Aviation giant Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr will meet with Portuguese government representatives on Monday as the German airline considers a possible investment in state-owned Portuguese airline TAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports from this weekend suggest that Lufthansa will seek to buy an initial 19.9 percent stake in TAP. However, the talks are at an early stage and Lufthansa has declined to comment on the matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Portugal's government confirmed in July its plans to privatize TAP, and the previous administration had aimed to sell at least 51 percent of the airline, according to Bloomberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three major European airlines Lufthansa, Air France-KLM and IAG SA, which is the parent company of British Airways and Iberia, have all publicly expressed their interest in TAP.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
