Operator of Norway's 43 state-owned airports becomes fully insight-driven with new data and analytics platform.
Norway's state-owned airports will undergo a major digital transformation program under the terms of a new long-term partnership between Amadeus and Avinor that will see the airport operator expand and broaden its use of Amadeus technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central to the partnership is a commitment to jointly create the passenger experience of the future with passenger services that can be delivered anywhere and with any device, rather than fixed service points such as check-in counters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vision is that check-in agents at Avinor airports will be able to move around the departure hall to serve passengers from multiple airlines using an app on a tablet or mobile phone. The mobile agents will be able to take passports or biometric data and easily print baggage tags or boarding passes from any kiosk in the terminal. With this capability, passengers no longer have to queue, but can check in and drop off their bags anywhere in the terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of this, Norway\u2019s 43 airports will upgrade their use of Amadeus Cloud Use Service (ACUS) at more than 800 service points and start operating the group\u2019s 250 self-service check-in kiosks with Amadeus software. Avinor\u2019s airports also have the option to enable biometrics for the entire passenger experience, including check-in, lounge access and boarding, reducing manual document checks and further reducing friction in the passenger experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to the Oslo hub, Avinor operates several small airports serving remote locations with relatively low traffic during the off-season. The companies envision that these smaller airports can be managed without the need for costly infrastructure such as check-in counters or flight information displays, and that Avinor can manage them remotely using mobile devices such as iPads connected to Amadeus cloud services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The services now include the launch of Amadeus Airport Insights, an advanced data and analytics platform. By leveraging AI and machine learning capabilities, this platform enables Avinor to efficiently analyze millions of data events from various touchpoints in the terminal, significantly improving decision-making and the passenger experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This fully insights-driven strategy means that Avinor will have access to predictive analytics and proactive alerts that support better decision-making. Avinor\u2019s operations team will know how long passengers spend in different parts of the terminal, be able to proactively identify bottlenecks in passenger flow and anticipate periods of high or low demand to better allocate resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
