A train with up to 70 people on board has derailed along the Norwegian Nordland Line, where traffic is operated by SJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One person is reported to have died and the situation at the scene of the accident is "unclear," according to the rescue services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shortly after 2 p.m. on Thursday, the emergency services were alerted to a derailed train south of Mo i Rana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police, the locomotive and five carriages have derailed, but even in the late afternoon, the emergency services do not have a full overview of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201d"It is an unmanageable situation and we have no control over the extent of the damage," says Snorre Nicolaisen at Helgeland Hospital in Mo i Rana, who has been promoted to staff level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say one person has died and several others have been injured. However, the extent of the damage is unclear, according to several Norwegian media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rescue services from Bod\u00f8 and Br\u00f8nn\u00f8ysund are on site, but their work is made more difficult by the train's position on a steep slope, according to VG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nordlandsbanan railway runs between Trondheim and Bod\u00f8 in Northern Norway and is operated by the Norwegian subsidiary of the Swedish state-owned train operator SJ.
