Following a decision by the TUI AG board of directors at a meeting earlier this week, CFO Mathias Kiep's contract will also be extended by three years. Their current contract runs until September 2025, and the new agreement period extends until September 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want to continue this development with Sebastian Ebel as CEO and Mathias Kiep as CFO and therefore the board has today decided to extend their mandates, says Dr. Dieter Zetsche<\/strong>, Chairman of the Board of TUI AG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sebastian Ebel took office as CEO of TUI on 1 October 2022. His long and distinguished career within the Group includes previous responsibilities as a board member focused on driving growth in the hotel and cruise business, as well as the role as CFO during the pandemic. Mathias Kiep succeeded Ebel as CFO in October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During his first two years as CEO, Sebastian Ebel has focused on TUI's transformation, both strategically and operationally. All government support from the pandemic has been repaid, the management structure has been reorganized and the business has been strengthened. The group has recently reported double-digit growth in underlying operating profit for eight consecutive quarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n TUI is not only growing in existing markets with new products and customers, but is also aiming for global growth outside Europe. This is done through a scalable and dynamic portfolio of tour operators and new hotel clusters. The focus of the hotel business is North, West and East Africa and Asia, while new sales markets include Spain, Portugal, Latin America and Eastern Europe. With decades of experience in global travel experiences, TUI can now use its international brand to reach local customers in countries that have historically been destinations for TUI's European customers. This means great potential for global customer growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mathias Kiep was appointed CFO of the international tourism group on October 1, 2022. During his time, the pandemic-related support loans have been repaid in full. In addition, TUI's balance sheet has been significantly strengthened through successful capital market transactions. Kiep and his team also prepared and implemented TUI's re-entry into the MDAX index. In June 2024, the group ended its dual listing in the UK and Germany after nine years and is now listed solely on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Kiep joined TUI AG in 2011 and has been responsible for strategy and mergers and acquisitions, among other things. As CFO of TUI Deutschland GmbH, he also has extensive experience in operational activities within a large national company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2013 TUI has had two successful years. This has been reflected in both sales and earnings quarter by quarter. The Group has managed to overcome the consequences of the pandemic thanks to an enormous effort from the entire TUI team. The focus is now solely on strong profitable growth. TUI is accelerating its transformation and thereby creating the basis to continue playing a leading role in the rapidly growing global tourism sector. The tourism industry is strong and is still growing faster than the economy as a whole, even after the pandemic. Travel is and will remain a global megatrend. The team around Sebastian Ebel is optimally positioned to lead TUI towards continued profitable growth.
