Ahead of a major music event in Zagreb on July 4-6, 2025, the Croatian Tourist Board and the Croatian Ministry of Tourism and Sports are urging travelers to avoid car traffic in and around the capital during these dates.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The concert, which takes place on Saturday, July 5, is expected to attract up to 500,000 visitors. At the same time, this weekend marks the beginning of the first major holiday weekend in July, which is expected to further burden the roads in and around Zagreb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To make travel easier, the Croatian Automobile Club HAK (Hrvatski autoklub) has published recommended alternative routes to Croatian tourist destinations on its official website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recommended alternative routes to the Adriatic coast: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Austria\/Slovenia to Kvarner and eastern\/southern Istria:
Graz\/Villach \u2013 Ljubljana \u2013 Postojna \u2013 Rupa (entrance to HR) \u2013 Rijeka (via motorway A7\/E61) \u2013 on to Opatija, Crikvenica, Senj, as well as the islands of Krk, Cres, Lo\u0161inj, Rab or towns in Istria (Pazin, Rabac, Labin). This route can also connect to motorway A6\/E61 and further via A1\/E65 towards Zadar, \u0160ibenik, Split and Dubrovnik. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Austria\/Slovenia to northern and western Istria:
Graz\/Villach \u2013 Ljubljana \u2013 Postojna \u2013 Koper \u2013 Ka\u0161tel (entrance to HR) \u2013 Umag \u2013 Pore\u010d \u2013 Rovinj \u2013 Pula,
or via Ljubljana \u2013 Postojna \u2013 Kozina \u2013 Starod \u2013 Pasjak D8 (entrance to HR) \u2013 then on to Kvarner and the islands. Possible to continue via A9\/E751 (incl. U\u010dka exit) or D66 towards Pula, Labin, Opatija and Rijeka. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Serbia to Istria and the northern coast:
Bajakovo \u2013 Slavonski Brod \u2013 Nova Gradi\u0161ka \u2013 Popova\u010da (exit from A3\/E70) \u2013 Sisak \u2013 Petrinja \u2013 Glina \u2013 Gvozd \u2013 Vojni\u0107 \u2013 Karlovac \u2013 then further towards Rijeka (A6) or the south coast (A1\/E65).
Alternatively, via state road D1 through Lika (Slunj). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Serbia to the southern coast:
Bajakovo - highway A3\/E70 to Babina Greda\/Slavonski Brod\/Nova Gradi\u0161ka - then via Bosnia and Herzegovina with border crossing at Slavonski \u0160amac, Svilaj, Stara Gradi\u0161ka or Slavonski Brod. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From Hungary west of Barcs to Kvarner and eastern\/southern Istria:
