On Monday, British media reported about cancelled flights, overturned campers and thousands of households without power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several tourist attractions are closed and the ongoing filming of the next Spider-Man film has been put on hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Storm Floris has caused great devastation since it hit the UK on Monday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The worst situation is in Scotland, where the authorities have issued a yellow warning covering almost the entire country. Northern England, northern Wales and Northern Ireland are also hard hit. On the islands of South Uist in northwestern Scotland, winds of almost 40 meters per second have been measured. This compares with 25 meters per second, which defines the limit for a storm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d&quot;Storm Floris is expected to break record wind speeds for the month of August in many areas, making this an extremely intense storm for the season,&quot; rail company Scotrail wrote in a comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, rainfall amounts of between 25 and 50 mm of rain are reported over western Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The country&#039;s Home Secretary, Angela Constance, urged people on Monday to keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable neighbors and urged those who took to the roads on Monday despite the warnings to &quot;bring warm clothes,&quot; reports&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c4gq3n049jno\">BBC<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Several mobile homes overturned<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">British media are reporting live on the destruction caused by the storm. Social media shows road workers sawing down fallen trees across roads, and videos are circulating of planes struggling to land in the strong winds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around 22,500 are reported to be without power since 2 p.m. on Monday, writes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/storm-floris-latest-do-not-travel-and-danger-to-life-warnings-as-storm-hits-uk-13406565\">Sky News<\/a>. In Ireland, the same number is 10,000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 68 flights were cancelled on Monday due to the storm, with Aberdeen and Belfast City airports particularly hard hit. Trains and buses have been cancelled, and several train operators have warned passengers not to travel north of Newcastle on Monday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spider-Man filming paused<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Scotland, the majority of the country&#039;s bridges have been closed to high vehicles, and cars are being urged to take great care when taking to the roads. Several roads are reported to be flooded, and a number of campervans in Scotland have been blown over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201dIt\u2019s peak season, so those with trailers and caravans, as well as those with roof and tent boxes, need to make sure their cargo is properly secured,\u201d Rod Dennis, from the RAC towing service, told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c4gq3n049jno\">BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Edinburgh, which is in its peak tourist season, several tourist attractions have been closed due to &quot;dangerously strong winds&quot;, including Edinburgh Zoo and Edinburgh Castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is due for release in 2026, has also been affected by Floris&#039; progress. The filming, which is currently underway in Glasgow and attracts large audiences, had to be paused, writes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescottishsun.co.uk\/tv\/15166658\/spider-man-filming-glasgow-faces-chaos-storm-floris-scotland\/\">The Sun<\/a>. Several buildings have been redecorated to resemble New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The storm is now expected to reach Sweden via Norway.
