Sun holidays and package tours dominate Spain maintained its position as the preferred sun holiday destination for the fifth consecutive year in July. As usual, routes to the holiday classics Malaga, Mallorca and Barcelona were the most popular among this summer's holiday travellers. A total of 284,000 passengers flew to and from Spain in July. Besides Spain, charter traffic was particularly directed towards Greece, where the holiday islands Crete and Rhodes were again the most sought-after destinations. Routes to Italy, France and Turkey also had high activity and ranked among the most popular summer destinations. London was again the most popular city destination, with Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Paris also ranking highly on the list.
\u00a0Long-distance routes with progress<\/strong>Long-haul routes also saw growth in July. At the top of the list was the USA with 157,000 passengers, which is an increase of 10 percent more travellers than the same month last year. This was followed by the United Arab Emirates with 42,000 passengers, which is 25 percent more than in the same period in 2024. The routes to New York, Dubai, and Doha were the most popular, followed by Nuuk, Toronto, and Bangkok, among others. \u201dLong-haul routes play an important role for both tourism and business. When we see growth on routes like New York and Dubai, it's a sign that Denmark is well-connected to the rest of the world, and that we have strong international accessibility. At the same time, it shows that we are an interesting destination for many foreign passengers who are happy to travel long distances to spend the summer in Denmark, and that is very positive,\u201d says Peter Krogsgaard.
