Tallink Silja Line's passenger vessel Silja Symphony, which operates the Stockholm\u2013Helsinki route, will be taken out of service for a planned drydocking from 7\u201328 January 2026. During its stay at the BLRT shipyard in Klaip\u0117da, technical upgrades and regular maintenance will be carried out to ensure the vessel's long-term operational reliability and energy efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An important part of the work is the modernisation of the ship's integrated automation and navigation systems. Silja Symphony will also be equipped with the innovative Kongsberg EcoPower control system, which optimises propeller pitch and the load and operation of the main engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this, several other electronic control systems on board are being upgraded, including the integrated navigation and radar system, the fire detection system, and the loudspeaker system. By popular demand, a new Wi-Fi network is also being installed, covering both cabins and public areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the ship is lifted in the floating dock, maintenance on the underwater parts is carried out simultaneously, including valves, the seawater system, the stern thruster, and the stabilisers. Other work that cannot be carried out during normal operation is also performed, including thorough maintenance and refurbishment of the window panels in the large window section at the stern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 All of this will help to ensure that Silja Symphony is in good condition for its 35th anniversary at the end of May 2026 and that the vessel can continue to offer cruise experiences and freight transport between Finland and Sweden for many years to come, adds Tarvi-Carlos Tuulik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
