But he was stopped shortly after the security check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He had his dead wife with him. It was airport staff who discovered that something was wrong. The man, who is in his 80s, brought his wife forward in a wheelchair, but the woman was lifeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The couple made it through security but were stopped shortly afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When staff checked the woman, no signs of life were found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 When she took the woman&#039;s hand, she noticed that the woman had an abnormally low temperature and that she was not breathing, an airport employee tells Spanish&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/diariodeavisos.elespanol.com\/2026\/01\/aeropuerto-tenerife-sur-fallecida\/\">Diario de Advisos<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe employee immediately alerted his manager. Within minutes, the emergency protocol was activated and several security personnel, Civil Guard officers and forensic personnel arrived at the scene,\u201d the person continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The man&#039;s explanation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the man, his wife died a few hours earlier inside the airport area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Airport employees say that the man initially tried to blame airport staff for his wife&#039;s death, writes Diario de Avisos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The man was arrested in connection with the incident.
