Tourists who want to get close to the world-famous Trevi Fountain in Rome now have to pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, Rome introduced a new entry system to curb the previously chaotic tourist flows around the attraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A ticket to get to the fountain now costs two euros, equivalent to just over 21 kronor. However, most of the square is still open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Rome's tourism director, the entrance fee could bring in at least six million euros, equivalent to over 63 million kronor, per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Trevi Fountain became world famous when Anita Ekberg bathed there in Federico Fellini's film "La Dolce Vita" and attracts millions of visitors every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There has previously been a restriction that means that a maximum of 400 people are allowed to visit the fountain at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
