Travel on the \u00d6resund train in Sweden increased by three per cent during 2025 and is now 18 per cent higher than in 2019. The largest volumes are in Sk\u00e5ne, where 27.5 million journeys were completed. Increases of seven and five per cent respectively are also seen in V\u00e4stra G\u00f6taland and Halland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Halland region is growing strongly \u2013 a 5 per cent increase.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Halland shows strong development with 5.29 million trips in 2025, an increase of 5 percent compared to 2024. Since 2019, travel has increased by 10 percent, placing Halland among the regions with the best development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Halmstad C is the county's largest station with 4,637 journeys per weekday, followed by Varberg (3,892 journeys\/weekday) and Falkenberg (2,368 journeys\/weekday). A positive trend is visible along the entire West Coast Line, with particularly strong development in Laholm (783 journeys\/weekday, +15 percent since 2024) and B\u00e5stad (1,345 journeys\/weekday, +11 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2013 The West Coast Line is one of our most important routes and it\u2019s very pleasing to see the strong growth in Halland. Both commuter travel and leisure travel contribute to the increase, says Andreas Almquist, head of administration at Hallandstrafiken.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Kungsbacka, located on the border with V\u00e4stra G\u00f6taland, sees 2,427 journeys per weekday, an increase of 18 percent, and serves as an important commuter station to Gothenburg. \u00c5sa shows remarkable development with 1,125 journeys per weekday and a 52 percent increase since 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Passenger transport work in Halland amounts to 429 million passenger-kilometres, an increase of 1 per cent compared to 2024. The average journey length is 81.1 kilometres, showing that many travellers use the train for longer distances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Challenges on the northern section of the West Coast Line<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite the positive overall development, track work, particularly around the V\u00e4stl\u00e4nken in Gothenburg and the Varberg Tunnel, has affected travel on certain routes during the year.
