It could be messy,\u201d says Adam Gy\u00f6rki, head of communications at Tui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Spanish union Uni\u00f3n General de Trabajadores in the Canary Islands, around 1,500 airport employees could soon go on strike. This after negotiations between unions and employers over wages and working conditions stalled, writes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canarianweekly.com\/posts\/Airport-Strikes-to-go-ahead-from-27th-March-in-the-Canary-Islands\">Canarian Weekly.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the airports&#039; so-called ground staff - who work with check-in, baggage handling and aircraft assistance, among other things - who are affected.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strike involves employees at service companies Groundforce and Menzies Aviation, which perform essential services for airlines such as Easyjet, Jet2 and Aer Lingus, writes Canarian Weekly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strike will begin on Friday, March 27th at the airports of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. During certain hours, on certain days of the week, staff will not work.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strike during Easter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff at Tenerife&#039;s airports (north and south) are also affected. 24-hour strikes are planned there on March 28-29, and April 2-6. This coincides with the busy period around Easter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not yet clear exactly how operations at the affected airports will be affected. However, long queues, baggage issues and delays are likely. Travelers flying to or from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressen.se\/tagg\/location\/kanarieoarna\/\" class=\"\">Canary Islands<\/a>&nbsp;Passengers are advised to check information with their airlines and arrive at the airport in good time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tui: &quot;It could get messy&quot;\u201d&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tui has sent text messages to travelers flying from the Canary Islands on Friday, says Adam Gy\u00f6rki, Nordic communications manager at Tui. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 There will be people working, as we understand it, but things will take longer. It can be messy.
