A further 350 million SEK is now being invested in the facility as part of the long-term commitment to develop the destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"518\" height=\"451\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelreport.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ab2869e6439b5671_800x800ar-e1778586720807.jpg\" alt=\"Mari Tara, CEO of Idre Himmelfj\u00e4ll\" class=\"wp-image-303603\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mari Tara, CEO of Idre Himmelfj\u00e4ll<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Idre Himmelfj\u00e4ll is described as the biggest investment in a new ski resort in the Swedish mountains in over 30 years and has already attracted extensive investment in recent years. A total of around 2.4 billion Swedish kronor has been invested in the area over the last five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new investments include continued development of the ski area, new accommodation and improved infrastructure. The plans include, among other things, more beds, new lifts and slopes, as well as continued expansion of the centre area Polstj\u00e4rnan with hotels, restaurants and service facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Idre Himmelfj\u00e4ll has grown rapidly in recent years, positioning itself as a modern mountain destination with a focus on families, nature experiences, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company continues to see strong demand for both housing and investments in the area, while the development is expected to contribute to more job opportunities and strengthened tourism in northern Dalarna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The following are included in the new investment plans to be implemented in 2026-2027:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 New SOUTH ski area with seven new slopes and a 6-seater express lift<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Doubling of snow cannon capacity in new and existing slopes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 An additional seven kilometres of cross-country ski trails with a focus on the mountain top trails<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New heated cabin\/caf\u00e9\/waffle house at Flinga's Children's Land<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">- New barbecue areas and toilets directly adjacent to the slopes around Flinga's children's area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Over 300 new beds in modern houses and apartments are being built by private individuals\/companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Idre Himmelfj\u00e4ll continues to plan and design for further expansion in line with Vision 2036. In the vision, Idre Himmelfj\u00e4ll creates approximately 18,000 beds, a summit lodge, a centre area, a ski lodge, about 50 slopes, and more restaurants and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim is to develop a long-term sustainable mountain destination with the utmost respect for the surrounding nature, visitors, the environment, neighbours, and the future.
