Jet fuel prices are rising again \u2013 and SAS is now warning that it may be forced to cancel flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 We have no plans for that, but we&#039;ll see what happens, CEO Anko van der Werff tells&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sverigesradio.se\/artikel\/sas-staller-in-flyg-nar-flygbransle-blir-dyrare\">Echo.&nbsp;<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the end of February this year, oil prices have been a major concern for the aviation industry. With the war in Iran and unrest in the Strait of Hormuz, the price of oil has reached skyrocketing levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In mid-June, the US and Iran agreed to a ceasefire. However, it did not last long, as the US last week carried out large-scale attacks on Iran, which were responded to with attacks on US military targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now oil prices are soaring again, reports Ekot. In the past week, the price of oil has risen to $127 per barrel, according to the aviation industry organization IATA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SAS does not rule out canceled flights<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The increasing price means that several airlines need to review their departures, including&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressen.se\/tagg\/organization\/sas\/\" class=\"\">SAS<\/a>. In recent months, between 3 and 5 percent of all departures have been forced to be canceled, according to Ekot. The airline&#039;s CEO Anko van der Werff tells the radio that there may be more canceled flights in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 We have no plans to cancel any more, but we have to see what happens in the Middle East and how it affects oil prices, says van der Werff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says he is closely monitoring developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 I am more worried that fuel prices will rise again if there is more unrest in the Middle East.
