Poland continues to gain ground as a travel destination among Swedish travelers. So far this year, bookings to the country have doubled compared to the same period in 2025. The big winner is Gda\u0144sk, where bookings have increased by a whopping 130 percent, according to travel agency Ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gda\u0144sk has thus become Ticket's most booked destination in Poland. The combination of short travel routes, relatively low prices, historical surroundings and proximity to the Baltic Sea are pointed out as some of the explanations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 We see that more and more Swedish travelers are opening their eyes to Gda\u0144sk. It's easy to get there, you get a lot for your money and the city has a lot to offer, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statistics cover trips booked between January 1 and August 11, 2026 and are compared with the corresponding period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of Gda\u0144sk's strengths is the opportunity to combine a classic city weekend with swimming and coastal life. From Gda\u0144sk, the train takes about 15\u201320 minutes to Sopot, known for its beach, long pier, restaurants and spa hotels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Gda\u0144sk itself, there are, among other things, the historic quarters around D\u0142ugi Targ and Mariacka Street, as well as the promenades along the Mot\u0142awa River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The city also has a central place in modern European history. The European Solidarity Centre depicts the Solidarity movement and the developments that contributed to the fall of communism in Eastern Europe. The Museum of the Second World War is another major attraction in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Malbork can also be reached in about 30 minutes by train. There, you can find the medieval Malbork Castle, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and described as the world's largest brick castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another option is Oliwa, with its large park and cathedral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ticket sees Gda\u0144sk as a destination for most of the year. In late summer, you can combine city life with the coast, while autumn is suitable for restaurants, shopping, museums and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Towards the end of November, the city's Christmas market also opens, making Gda\u0144sk an option for winter weekends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe great thing about Gda\u0144sk is that you can have several different experiences on the same trip. One day you can discover the city's restaurants and shopping and the next day take a trip to Sopot for a day by the sea,\u201d says Tiyoneh Jah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
