Spanish tourism overtakes the US

Remove

Spanish tourism is growing at a record pace, overtaking the US as the world's second largest tourist country after France.

Last year, the number of international tourists to Spain increased for the fifth year in a row, reaching new record numbers. Although the country has had its own security problems during the year, terror in Barcelona and independence disputes in Catalonia, Spain is expected to attract tourists from other more affected countries such as Turkey and Egypt.

Almost nine percent more foreign tourists, a total of 82 million, visited Spain last year.
