
The island nation of Mauritius is preparing for the tropical cyclone Berguitta which is heading towards the country.
Wind gusts of more than 33 meters per second are expected, as are high waves.
The country's meteorological institute warns that the cyclone could pose a direct threat and the international airport and the country's largest port have closed in anticipation of the storm.
The cyclone was located on Wednesday morning about 340 kilometers northeast of Mauritius and is moving at 7 kilometers per hour towards the country, which is a popular tourist destination.
The nearby island of Réunion is also warning of the cyclone.
