Tourism Minister: Legalize Marijuana

Legalize marijuana use in the tourist resorts of Cancun and Los Cabos, in an attempt to tackle crime and gang violence.

The controversial proposal is now being presented by Mexico's Tourism Minister Enrique de la Madrid.

”"It's absurd that as a country we haven't taken this step. Although there is a lot of work to do if it is to be implemented nationally, I would like to see it happen in the states of Baja California and Quintana Roo," he said at a conference in Mexico City.

The two states with the tourist metropolises Cancun and Los Cabos have been severely affected by gang crime in recent years.
